Philip Kubicki was an American guitar maker and designer who gained fame for his innovative designs and attention to detail. He was born in 1953 in Los Angeles, California, and began building guitars in the early 1970s. In 1982, he founded Kubicki Factor, which became known for its unique bass guitar designs, including the Factor Bass and Ex-Factor Bass.
Kubicki was known for his meticulous attention to detail, including innovative features such as a solid brass bridge that improved sustain and tone, and a unique locking system that kept the bass strings in tune. His guitars were used by a number of well-known musicians, including John Taylor of Duran Duran and Flea of the Red Hot Chili Peppers.
Kubicki passed away in 2013 at the age of 60, leaving behind a legacy of innovation and excellence in guitar design.
